Title: Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland
Department: Social Work
Description: This course will examine different forms of
dialogue including public deliberation, sustained dialogue
and mediation and how they can be used in reconciliation
efforts within communities. After studying these models,
students will engage in a service project with other volunteers
in deliberations about building and strengthening community
partnerships. Students also will travel to Northern Ireland
where they will learn about “The Troubles” and
examine community peace efforts and the role that dialogue
and deliberation have played in these efforts.

Course cost: $3,950 (includes tuition, airfare, room and
board, program-related transportation costs and two meals
per day. The full cost of the course may be covered by conventional
financial aid.)
