International Educational Issues in Jamaica
Course Title: International Educational Issues
Course Location: Petersfield, Jamaica

Course Description
The course will examine international educational issues as they pertain to communities in less-developing locations. Through an integrated one week academic intensive experience in rural Jamaica, students will gain an understanding of the complexity of education and creative solutions in less resourced settings. Students will complete a service project identified by the Association of Clubs at one of the local community schools. It is estimated the students will complete 15 hours of service.
Course Learning Outcomes:
Students who complete readings and participate in this course will:
- Increase knowledge of international educational issues in less-developed locations
- Demonstrate and analyze the complexity of these social issues
- Incorporate the knowledge and experience gained from this academic experience into the broader educational objectives of their own course of study.

Program Tuition: $850 / $750*

- 1 undergraduate academic credit through West Virginia University
- Room and board during spring break academic program
