Faculty Positions

We welcome enthusiastic faculty members to design and implement global service-learning programs, whether for one summer or on a continuing basis.

Amizade will partner academic instructors with a trained service-learning facilitator to integrate and implement intercultural service-learning theory and practice into their program. Amizade Global Service-Learning Programs are unique in the service-learning field for their shared responsibilities throughout the program development and implementation process.

Academic instructors team with the Amizade Staff to plan the logistical and academic portions of their course. While abroad they work with a resident Site Director who coordinates the service work and course participants' interactions with the host community. If you are interested in applying to design and teach an Amizade course, find out more in the Faculty/Facilitator section.

Service-Learning Facilitator Positions

We seek dynamic educators with a variety of backgrounds to work in partnership with our faculty members to design and implement service-learning methodology into our courses. Service-learning facilitators may have backgrounds in service-learning, education, social work, community organizing, group leading, international education, study abroad, writing, teaching and more. Basically, if you are excited about leading an Amizade Global Service-Learning Program, you are welcome to apply.

If you are interested in applying for a service-learning facilitator position, find out more in the Faculty/Facilitator section.

Volunteers may commit to a one-time task or regular volunteering throughout a semester or year. We are open to your suggestions for promoting global service-learning on your campus or in your community and will work with you to design a project that excites you.

Work-Study Positions

Generally we are seeking students interested in program coordinating and marketing. Program Coordinating involves cooperating with Amizade staff to develop the student population's awareness of upcoming global service-learning program opportunities. Marketing involves collaborating with staff to increase awareness of global service-learning efforts with program alumni, international and local community partners, and potential funding sources. We ask a minimum of a 10-hour commitment a week.

Internship Positions

Provided you have a faculty sponsor, you can coordinate an internship in our office. Internships are generally available in Marketing, English Writing, Journalism, Computer Science, Graphic Design and other options are available as well. Internships are a great opportunity to earn credit, skills, and a small scholarship from our office in a single semester.
We seek students with skills as well as a willingness to take the lead on projects. We ask a minimum of a 10-hour commitment a week.

Some useful skills include:

  • Computer skills in graphic design, brochures/advertising design, and power point
